Web Design Agencies in New York, New York: Choosing an Agency Model, and Six Firms to Compare
Contents: 6 sections
All six of these firms give Manhattan addresses, from Broad Street to West 57th Street, and three of them also list offices far from New York: Ramotion is headquartered in San Francisco, Digital Silk names Miami as its headquarters, and KOTA describes itself as based in London and New York. Going by their own descriptions, their work runs from branding and packaging design to websites for B2B and professional services firms. For a larger organization, two choices come before any design discussion: which kind of agency fits the problem, and what the organization’s purchasing process will need from the firm it picks.
Brand-Led or Web-Led: Choosing an Agency Model in New York
Two ways New York agencies describe their work
Some firms on this page lead with brand. DD.NYC describes itself as a creative digital design agency “specializing in branding, web design, graphic & packaging design, video production shoots.” KOTA lists brand strategy and identity ahead of web design and development, and says, “Through stakeholder interviews and workshops, we immerse ourselves in your world to sharpen your positioning, messaging and direction before anyone touches the visuals.” Ramotion describes brand identity design, marketing websites, and UI/UX design for web and mobile apps.
Other firms put the website, and what it should do for the business, at the center of how they describe their work. e9digital calls itself a New York web design agency for B2B and professional services and presents its UX and development work as aimed at generating leads. Digital Silk calls itself a web design agency and describes its work as built for B2B, B2C, and enterprise brands, and Big Drop describes itself as a digital marketing, web design, and development company.
Neither model is better on its own terms. The useful question is which problem you are solving. If your organization is changing how it presents itself, through a new name, a merger, or a move into a new market, the brand work is the larger task and the website carries its result. If the brand is settled and the site needs to work harder for sales, recruiting, or service, the website is the larger task. Some projects need both, so ask each firm how it handles the half of the work it does not lead with, and who on its team would do it.
Agencies headquartered outside New York
Three of the six firms describe a home base outside the city. Ramotion describes itself as a design agency headquartered in San Francisco and lists New York among its locations. Digital Silk names its Miami office as its headquarters and lists New York among its other offices. KOTA describes itself as based in London and New York, and its listing gives an email address at its UK domain.
Working with the New York office of an agency based elsewhere raises questions that have little to do with design. Ask which legal entity will sign your contract, and in which state or country. Ask whose time zone will set meeting times and deadlines, and whether invoices will come from the New York office or the headquarters. If your organization needs its vendors to hold particular registrations or insurance in New York, ask about those before the proposal stage.
Supplier diversity and M/WBE certification
DD.NYC identifies itself as M/WBE-certified. In New York City, Small Business Services (SBS) lists the Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Program among the City’s certification programs, and it names partner organizations, such as the Empire State Development Corporation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, whose existing certifications can speed up an application with the City.
Because more than one body issues certifications, the question for a buyer is not only whether a firm is certified but by whom. If your organization tracks spending with certified suppliers, ask any firm that describes itself as certified which body issued the certification, whether it is current, and for a copy of the certificate. Then check whether your organization’s program recognizes that body.
What large organizations ask for in writing
A purchasing department may need more from a web design firm than a portfolio and a price. Before the proposal stage, ask each firm whether it can provide the documents your organization requires, such as:
- a certificate of insurance naming the coverage your contracts call for;
- answers to your security questionnaire, including how the firm stores your files and who has access to your site’s systems;
- the accessibility standard it designs and builds to, and how it tests against it;
- whether it will sign your organization’s standard agreement or works only from its own;
- how it handles personal information collected through the site’s forms.
Asking before the proposal stage means the answers are already in hand when your organization reviews the choice, rather than arriving after a firm has been picked on design alone.
Running a selection with several agencies
If your organization will compare several agencies, the comparison is fairer when every firm responds to the same written brief. A useful brief states the project’s goals, the audiences the site serves, the pages or features you expect, the systems the site must connect to, your decision date, and who will make the decision.
Agree on the criteria you will use to compare the firms before the first meeting, and give every firm the same chance to ask questions. If you want to see ideas as well as credentials, say whether you are asking for design work before a contract, and whether you will pay for it. When the decision is made, let the firms you did not choose know.
Working With a New York Firm
All six addresses are in Manhattan: Broad Street (10004), West 18th Street (10011), Broadway (10001), two on Madison Avenue (10016 and 10022), and West 57th Street (10019). KOTA describes its Madison Avenue office as in Midtown Manhattan. If you want to meet in person, raise it when you first get in touch, since some firms here list a Manhattan office alongside a headquarters elsewhere.
DD.NYC publishes a 212 number, Ramotion a 917 number, and Digital Silk a toll-free 800 number. KOTA’s listing gives its email address.

How Firms Are Listed
Firms appear in alphabetical order, which is not a ranking. A firm is included when its own website gives a New York City address and lists website design among its services, and when that website could be opened for checking. The list does not cover every web design firm in New York. Addresses, phone numbers, and service descriptions come from each firm’s website and were checked in September 2026. Where a firm publishes no New York phone number, the listing shows its contact email, or its website only if it publishes neither.
